BASEBALL REGISTRATION

Baseball is a great choice for families as the time commitment is not overwhelming, it is affordable, and kids get the chance to learn a lifetime sport while improving their physical conditioning.  Registration evening will be held on Monday March 5th  from 4:00-7:00 at the La Broquerie Arena Upstairs lobby.  It is very important that players register by this date.  Late registrations may be accepted, but may not if roster spots are not available.    If you are unable to register this evening or have questions please contact Louis Cote at 424-5981 or cote_louis@hotmail.com

 

La Broquerie Minor baseball participates in the Carillon Minor Baseball League which consist of teams in Southeast Manitoba.  Almost all of the games are within 30 minutes of La Broquerie.

The levels for registration include:  Girls are allowed to play down a group if the parents prefer.  Example, if your daughter is born in 2002 she may play in the Grand Slam level if preferred.

 

Tim Hortons Rally Cap Year of Birth 2005-2007

Rally Cap players participate on Monday nights from May 7th until June 26th from 6:00-7:00.  All activities take place at the La Broquerie Recreational Grounds.  It is a house league style, as they do not play against other towns.  The players are introduced to baseball, learn the basics of throwing and hitting, and play games amongst their group with an emphasis on sportsmanship and self esteem.  Tim Hortons sponsors this level in Manitoba and provides complimentary items for the players.  If the weather does not cooperate the kids play in the La Broquerie Arena and Caisse Centre.  Kids born in 2005 that have previous baseball experience may register at the Grand Slam level, if the parents prefer.    Registration $25.

 

Grand Slam Year of Birth  2003-2004

Grand Slam is a level that is similar to Rally Cap and also provides the opportunity to play against other teams.  Rookie aged players will practice on Monday nights using the rally cap format.  Kids also get their first experience in games against other communities, one game a week on Wednesdays.  Teams follow a schedule and the season ends in late June with a fun tournament called the Carillon Rookie League Jamboree.  Registration $50.

 

MOSQUITO- Year of Birth 2001-2002    

Mosquito baseball gives the kids their first opportunity to experience pitching.  The teams play a schedule against other communities that includes 1 game a week usually on Mondays.  The teams will also practice at least 1 night a week.  Practices will start in mid- April and the season will finish toward the end of June.  Registration cost- $60

 

PEE WEE- Year of Birth  1999-2000  

The PeeWee baseball teams play a schedule against other communities that includes 1-2 games a week usually on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  The teams will also practice at least 1 night a week.  Practices will start in mid- April and the season will finish toward the end of June.  Registration cost- $60

 

BANTAM- Year of Birth 1997-98   Registration cost $75    

The Bantam baseball teams play a schedule against other communities that includes 1-2 games a week usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The teams will also practice at least 1 night a week.  Practices will start in mid- April and the season will finish toward the end of June.  Registration cost- $75

 

Peewee and Bantam players may choose to also play in the Carillon Provincial league which includes more baseball including a few weekends and into July.  If your son/daughter has a passion for baseball it is suggested they participate.  There will be a handout at registration evening explaining further. 

 

MIDGET- Year of Birth 1994-1996 Registration cost- $75

The Midget baseball teams play a schedule against other communities that includes 1-2 games a week usually on Mondays and Thursdays.  The teams will also practice at least 1 night a week.  Practices will start in mid- April and the season will finish toward the end of June.  Registration cost- $75

The La Broquerie minor baseball club had another successful season this spring and many players are continuing on into the summer months because of their success.  The La Broquerie peewee team won the Carillon Minor Baseball Association peewee championship and earned the right to represent the region in the Manitoba Baseball Association AA provincial championship in Altona on July 22-24.  (see picture) The winner of this tournament will represent Manitoba in the Baseball Canada Championships in August.

There were also many great individual accomplishments as Eric Toews (Mosquito), Dustin Fournier-Broesky (bantam),  Miguel Chartier (bantam), and Pascal Tetrault (bantam) 
were picked up by other communities representing the Carillon Region in provincials.
 
The Carillon AAA program also has a La Broquerie flavour to the teams as the following members of our program will be representing the region at the Baseball Manitoba AAA Championship in August.  Peewee- Liam Lenton, Nathan Neufeld, Maryk Reimer, Joe Fournier, Brennan Roch, Coaches Shaun Lenton, Louis Cote  Bantam Raymond Hiebert, Phil Therrien and midget Matthew Lenton.
